– c. 1968 Les Paul’s personal handmade hand-wound custom low impedance electric guitar pickup

– Originally purchased in a lot from the Julian’s “Property From the Estate of Les Paul” auction of June 2012

– A near impossible opportunity to buy a pickup made by Les Paul himself, which were ONLY used on his personal projects and prototypes

– ALL of his personally owned Les Paul model guitars, those which he actually played or used for experimentation, were outfitted with his very own handmade pickups. If you study the images of his prototype Les Pauls from the early-’50s, you’ll observe that the vast majority of both the guitars Mary Ford and Les Paul played sported handmade or modified pickups.

– With an unmistakable seamless black epoxy appearance, very much like those which he invented for his low-impedance Les Paul Recording models, these sound SIGNIFICANTLY better and are unsurprisingly some of the best pickups I’ve ever heard

– This pickup is in good condition, and perfect working order. It appears to have been scraped and potentially relegated as a non-functional pickup by Les Paul, however, we were able to restore stable functionality employing ALL of his original windings. It measures exactly the same as all of his other homemade pickups, however the enclosure is rough and crude

– This pickup is 1 of 2 we currently have available

– We will include a COA which verifies and details the provenance
