– This is simply a superb guitar. It really has no weaknesses whatsoever: it feels incredible, looks wonderful, and sounds absolutely fantastic. A serious guitar for a player ore interested overall performance. A very comparable model with near identical appointments made by Baker’s current company, the B3 SL Deluxe, is a $6,000 guitar, and this B1C is arguably better.
– Custom ordered by Wild West Guitars of Pasadena, CA, this incredible 1-of-a-kind build is an exceptionally well-crafted boutique instrument made by Fender Master builder Gene Baker.
– It is believed Wild West ordered 20 Baker B1 model variants in 2001, all of which being unique.
– From what can be deduced, this B1C is one of the more accessible of the entire Wild West bunch, in that it features a beautiful and understated Aged Cherry Burst sunburst finish over a modest book-matched AA flame maple top. Additionally, it was outfitted with atypical squared headstock profile inlays in a rosewood fretboard and a bound peghead with an inlayed “Baker” logo. A pair of DiMarzio Virtual PAF humbucking pickups in zebra configuration are installed: with a DP196 humbucking pickup (7.50 kOhm) in the neck position and a DP197 humbucking pickup (8.24 kOhm) in the bridge position.
