– For your consideration is this vintage 1972 Gibson ES-335 electric semi-hollowbody electric guitar.
– This very nice all original example, serial number 173522, is a wonderful player’s guitar with a professional refret while otherwise completely intact with no breaks, no modifications, no cracks, and no repairs. The wiring harness remains completely original, and the original T-Top Patent No. humbuckers are nearly perfectly balanced. It’s a great sounding and playing guitar: a true player’s piece.
– It presents as a collector’s condition ES-335, with a very nicely preserved translucent Walnut finish with lustrous chrome hardware, however, it does exhibit expected playing wear, superficial buckle rash, and some general patina. Perfect for the discerning player who embraces some light wear as to avoid being preoccupied with being precious about the condition. There is a very small blemish at the top of the back of the peghead that suggests a possibility of this being stamped “2” and then someone having subsequently removed that. While we can’t be certain, that’s our best guess.
– Setup with super low action with .050″ string height on the low-E string at the 1st fret, and .065″ string height on the low-E string at the 12th fret.
– Neck measurements: 1.582″ (1 9/16″) nut width, .805″ neck depth at 1st fret, .973″ neck depth at 12th fret.
– Pickup measurements: 6.30 kOhm (bridge), 6.39 kOhm (neck). An incredibly balanced and musical match.
– Weight: 6.9 lbs. Very lightweight!
