– This incredibly rare matching stereo pair of 437 amps includes the original corresponding lunchbox with original impedance modules.
– Having very recently been serviced for modern recording applications, this is an incredibly rare pair of mic pres. Absolutely wonderful sounding units, the Altec 437 series is incredibly HiFi in nature, with detail found only in similar Western Electric and Langevin designs. Clear yet warm, they are particular complementary of tube microphones.
– The 437A unit utilizes (1) 396A and (2) 404A vacuum tubes. All of which are NOS vintage examples.
– The 437B unit utilizes (1) 12AY7 and (2) 12BY7A vacuum tubes. All of which are NOS vintage examples. This unit has a bad tertiary winding in the output transformer, and while possibly fixable if not easily re-wound, it was replaced with an exact spec. Cinemag.
– Recently fully and meticulously serviced by Matt DelVecchio of Doctor Bass, with no expense spared, these mic pres have been completely gone through and are in perfect working order – ready for turnkey studio use.
– Both modules were professionally hardwired with Neutrik XLR connectors.
