– For your consideration is this vintage 1966 Fender Coronado I electric hollowbody guitar.
– This all original example, serial number 178115, is stamped “SPECIAL” and was likely a demo model on display at the 1967 NAMM show.
– It looks absolutely incredible in original Lake Placid Blue with a matching headstock, which is nicely complemented by the gold pickguard.
– Unfortunately, the binding is starting to degrade, and it is suffering from binding rot. While the binding is clearly shrinking and pulling from the body, there is a very small spot where it is crumbling free.
– The original DeArmond sounds fantastic and measures 12.95 kOhm.
– Neck measurements: 1.613″ nut width, .860″ depth at 1st fret, .869″ depth at 12th fret
– Weight: 5 lbs.
