– For your consideration is Hank Marvin’s personal 1966 Baldwin Burns Hank Marvin S (Special) prototype electric solidbody guitar.
– This incredibly rare historically important guitar, serial number 2592, is highly documented within Burns and Baldwin literature, as well as several books on the topic. This exact one being the Marvin S played by Hank Marvin during The Shadows ’67 Australian tour.
– Only 3 were produced: two green examples and one in white. The white was destroyed by the factory, the other green example was supposedly gifted to Bruce Welch, yet it has never resurfaced. So, of the 3 ever made, this may be the only one in existence.
– Interestingly, this transitional guitar happens to also be one of very few to feature both the “Baldwin” and “Burns” names concurrently: on the same scratch plate pickguard.
– It was procured directly from Per Gjorde, author of “Pearls and Crazy Diamonds: Fifty Years of Burns Guitars 1952-2002.” Gjorde is a highly respected Burns / Baldwin expert and longtime collector.
– This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own one of the rarest and most important Burns instruments ever made.
– Neck measurements: 1.641″ nut width, .802″ neck depth at 1st fret, .955″ neck depth at 12th fret.
– Weight: 7.2 lbs.
