1961 Burns Black Bison 4-Pickup Vintage Electric Guitar – Historic Instrument, Incredibly Rare ’61 Ormston Burns Black w/ Gold Hardware & Original Hard Case

– For your consideration is this 1961 Burns Black Bison vintage electric solidbody guitar.
– This excellent original example is one of 49 purported to ever be produced. Only 15 ’61 4-pickup Black Bisons have been documented to exist. One of which adorns the cover of Per Gjorde’s book ‘Pearls and Crazy Diamonds: fifty Years of Burns Guitars.” Do NOT confuse this for the later 3-pickup version.
– Incredibly crisp, all original with the rare original rectangular hard case, this Black Bison is in very excellent cosmetic condition. A no-issues specimen, there are; no breaks, no cracks, and no repairs whatsoever. The original pickup covers were replaced years ago with modern reissues, however, all of the electronics remains completely original.
– Interestingly, it does not have the bridge plaque upon which the Pat. No. and Serial would be engraved. It still retains slothead machine screws where the plaque would typically be affixed, so it’s quite possible that this guitar was never outfitted with a serial plate as the patina suggests nothing was ever mounted.
– A truly fantastic instrument, this guitar epitomizes the best of which Burns had to offer in the early-’60s. Highly refined, well-designed, and superbly versatile sounding, this is as much an incredible guitar as it is a collector’s piece.
