– For your consideration is this vintage 1960s Barclay 5-String long neck banjo by Harmony.
– This particular 100% all original example is in excellent cosmetic condition and includes the original chipboard case with corresponding original paperwork. When advertised in the Harmony catalog, it is listed as “model no. 28132” with what they express is an “extra long neck.” The price of this banjo was $106 in 1965, which was approximately twice as expensive as Harmony’s model no. 28000 traditional 5-string banjo found on the very same page in the catalog.
– Very much made to be a budget interpretation of a Vega Pete Seeger long neck banjo, the Harmony-made Regal and Barclay branded long scale banjos are actually quite rare. It is designated as a most deluxe 30-bracket (lug) banjo in Harmony’s catalog.
– Again, this is a very fine example in incredibly well preserved condition. It plays great, and remains all original with no issues.
– The Reso Tone tone ring is painted silver as is the original arm rest.
– Neck measurements: 1.207″ nut width, .905″ depth at 1st fret, 1.169″ depth at 12th fret.
– Weight: 4.6 lbs
