– For your consideration is this 1960 Gretsch 6161 Country Gentleman Electromatic Twin vintage electric guitar amplifier by Valco.
– This example, serial number T36228, is in incredibly poor all original condition.
– Perfect for either restoration or modification, the 6161 is just like any other Valco-made Supro-branded amp with a duet of 6973 power tubes: it’s a fantastic sounding amp. Since both speakers are completely deteriorated, this would qualify for a new baffle with a single 10″ or 12″ speaker, transforming it into a little Jimmy Page machine.
– It does not include any tubes. The black-painted chassis displays lots of superficial wear, and several edges of the back panels are worn through the tolex.
– Somehow, the fragile plastic logo is still completely intact.
– A fantastic project with tons of potential!
