– For your consideration is this vintage 1960 Gibson ES-125T thinline electric hollowbody guitar.
– While this player’s example has a slew of issues which make it perfect for a project or for an end-user, the body remains all original with the original Tobacco Sunburst lacquer finish.
– It has a wonderful feeling late-’59/early-’60 neck profile with the following measurements: 1.699″ nut width, .791″ neck depth at 1st fret, .931″ neck depth at 12th fret.
– The headstock, however, was broken and ultimately refinished with overspray. The decal remains original, though both the peghead and neck heel reveal non-original finish. There is also some funky finish work to the neck heel, though it does not appear to have been broken: perhaps simply color matched for continuity.
– The only original hardware appears to be the nickel trapeze tailpiece, which is in comically comprised condition.
– It was recently outfitted with a Wilkinson P-90 pickup, new pots, new chrome insert knobs, modified “Les Paul” truss rod cover, newer Kluson Deluxe style tuners, and a new tune-o-matic bridge on a wood base. It does not include a pickguard.
– The frets appear overly milled, though it does play and feel great. A proper refret would be encouraged.
– Even though there is no evidence of a serial or FON, several original parts were removed from this guitar some time ago, and the original pots conclusively determined it as a 1960.
