– For your consideration is this vintage 1960 Fender 5F2-A Princeton electric guitar tube combo amplifier.
– This narrow panel tweed Princeton, serial number P04416, is a great sounding player’s grade example.
– A really great amp for either live or studio use, this hot rod tweed Princeton is ready-to-go!
– Both transformers are original. The power transformer date code is “606 939” and the output transformer date code stamp reads “606 943”.
– The majority of the capacitors are original; as most of the Astron caps remain within.
– The tube chart date stamp is “JB” indicating a February ’60 completion.
– At some point many decades ago, the original Oxford was replaced with a larger 10″ Altec speaker. This necessitated that the baffle hole be enlarged to accommodate. When the aforementioned was performed, the grill was removed and then adequately reinstalled.
– It’s a great sounding amp, and while the modification most certainly affected the value, it also enhanced the functionality of the amp.
– The power cable and leather handle have been replaced. At some point the cabinet appears to have had a dog bone style handle installed which required additional non-original holes. While the handle mount screws are original, the brackets appear to be reissues.
