– 1955 Fender Twin -Amp model 5D8-A tweed narrow panel vintage electric guitar amplifier
– While this Twin’s cabinet appears quite frayed and worn, it’s a remarkably great sounding amplifier and remains original where it matters most
– The chassis is stamped “0112”, which was translated improperly by a Fender employee onto the tube chart as “0122”
– Tube chart is stamped “EE”
– Both the cabinet and baffle are designated as “20”
– The original Jensen P12Q 12″ speakers are in excellent condition with original cones, one of which is missing the “Jensen Loudspeaker, Special Design” sticker on the magnet cover. These speakers never received a date stamp
– All original transformers including: Triad “7993” power transformer and Triad “2818” output transformer
– The electrolytic capacitors have been replaced, though several original caps remain and reveal a late-’54 date code
– The handle brackets were removed and reinstalled as the holes became loose due to the weight of the amp: original holes were filled decades ago, and the handle brackets were repositioned. The handle is not original.
– Both back panels are original, however, the upper panel appears to have a more recent tweed wrapping which was intentionally aged
– The amp sounds incredible, so good in fact, that we are encouraging customers not to buy it, so we can keep it around.
