– For your consideration is this vintage 1932 Gibson L-1 flat top acoustic guitar.
– This remarkable pre-war example, serial (factory order) number 745, is in 100% all original condition and includes the original chipboard case.
– This is a very rare no-issues Gibson L-1, wonderfully preserved with no breaks, no cracks, and no repairs whatsoever. It remains in perfect structural condition, with all distress being superficial and all patina only being finish deep. The bridge pins and strap pin are miraculously original and matching.
– A wonderful sounding instrument, this guitar was arguably produced during Gibsons golden era of acoustics. An extremely light overall build quality, this acoustic absolutely sings: incredibly vibrant and clear, with articulated resonance and projection which belies the smaller size body.
– The small center yellow sunburst with fire stripe pickguard is indicative of the earliest batches of Gibson’s L-00 and L-1 models, what is unique to this particular L-1 is the factory upgraded fancy L-2 style tuning machines. Typically, the L-1 was outfitted with the same tuners found on the L-00 model, however this L-1 seems to be an exception with the engraved 3-on-a-side plate tuners. The original ivoroid buttons disintegrated decades ago, so they were replaced with exact spec. modern replicas.
– The neck shape is a quintessential V-shape profile, which is incredibly comfortable.
– Neck measurements: 1.763″ nut width, .964″ neck depth at 1st fret, 1.234″ neck depth at 12th fret.
