– For your consideration is this vintage 1976 Mu-Tron III envelope filter effects pedal by Musitronics.
– This incredibly clean example, serial number 15146, was previously part of the Indigo Ranch Studio collection, and is in perfect working order and includes the original box, paperwork, and even protective plastic packaging bag. Read below for more info on Indigo.
– While not preserved in mint condition, this true collector’s example is really quite nice, only displaying surface/storage wear.

– From the original ’70s Mu-Tron advertisement “New, sophisticated, versatile… utilizing the latest in music synthesis techniques. Small enough to be a ‘mini-synthesizer’. Mu-tron III translates the envelope or ‘volume picture’ of every note automatically… into an easily-controlled, articulated, vowel-like sound – as fast or slow as you play. Use Mu-tron III to create a variety of synthesizer sounds through most electrified instruments – guitar, keyboards, drums, flute, saxophone, brasses, bass, mandolin… even microphone. The sharper your attack and the more percussive your instrument, the wilder your sounds. Mu-tron III can be used with an octave divider or other devices – or in pairs for cascading effects. Besides providing inverted vowel trajectory (‘staccato snap’), Mu-tron III also functions as an automatic ‘wah’ pedal.”
– Indigo Ranch, nestled on 60-acres in the hills of Malibu, California, operated from 1974 until 2006, under the guidance and obsessions of Richard Kaplan. Clients took advantage of his meticulously built studio, hundreds of effects pedals, 400 guitar amps, and rare Aengus console. Artists as diverse as Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Olivia Newton John, Jeff Lorber, Korn, Sepultura, and Limp Bizkit all made albums at Indigo Ranch.
