– For your consideration is this vintage 1964 Epiphone Cortez FT-45N acoustic guitar with the original chipboard case.
– Epiphone’s equivalent to the Gibson LG-3, both guitars share the exact same body construction- made in the same Kalamazoo factory- with the exact same materials- by the same exact builders. Both the Gibson LG-3 and the Epiphone FT-45N share the same scale length, however, their pegheads and pickgurds are marginally unique.
– This beautiful all original example, serial number 166158, is in perfect structural condition with no issues and no modifications whatsoever. The Brazilian rosewood fingerboard is particularly stunning.
– It’s a fantastic sounding guitar: dry, balanced, and remarkably clear.
– The original black plastic bridge is in perfect shape, the silver “e” logo is still affixed tot the faux tortoise scratch plate, and the X-braced body exhibits no cracks of any kind whatsoever. The confluence of all of the aforementioned features is surprisingly rare for this model. There is some light texturing to the nitrocellulose lacquer clear coat on the back of the body from resting it its case for many decades.
– While the serial number is in the mid-100,000s, the nut width is the short-lived transitional 1 5/8″. The factory frets are large and retain plenty of original profile.
– A dealer-installed plastic strap pin is centered in the back of the neck heel.
– Neck measurements: .855″ depth at 1st fret, 1.044″ depth at 12th fret, 1.624″ nut width
