– For your consideration is this vintage 1960 Fender Stratocaster electric guitar.
– This amazingly cool ’60 slab board Strat, serial number 45698, is 100% all original aside from the body only Ink Blue refinish which was applied decades ago.
– Both visible pot codes reveal late-’59 dates. The lack of a pencil date on the neck heal suggest late-’59 as well, however, since the pot codes are so late in 1959, compounded with the VERY early 1960 designated serial number plate, it’s safe to assume this was assembled in early (possibly January) 1960.
– Even though this is a factory hard tail model, with no synchronized vibrato tailpiece, it is unusually light-weight at only 6.5 lbs. (6 lbs. 8 oz., or 2.94835 kilos.)
– The electronics are untouched and completely original. Every solder joint on the assembly is factory made. The mint green guard is gorgeous, and all black bobbing pickups are original and sound fantastic. It still retains the original 3-way pickup selector switch.
